The Beginning
Grover Auvil & the Birth of a Legacy
In 1928, Grover Auvil planted his first apple trees on the rugged, sun-blasted slopes above the Columbia River near Orondo, Washington. What began as an act of faith in the land became a dynasty. Grover had an eye for what would become one of the most valuable microclimates in Pacific Northwest agriculture.
His choice of location was visionary. The south-facing benches, known for extreme sunlight exposure, dramatic day-night temperature swings, and mineral-rich volcanic soils, produce fruit with unrivalled sugar content and crunch — a combination that would eventually make the Auvil name synonymous with premium quality across the nation.
